For most people, the blooming of sunflowers almost along the whole University Avenue of the University of the Philippines (Diliman) is as much as an accessible sunflower haven for those who happen to live or pass by the vicinity. But for every graduating batch of the university, the bloom of our Alma Mater’s sunflowers reminds them of their season of harvest: GRADUATION SEASON.

Every year, hundreds, or even thousands of graduating UP students take pride in wearing their “Sablay” and spend time on photo sessions with the sunflowers as symbols of their pride as graduates of one of the most privileged universities of the country.
But although the sunflowers are meant for every Iskolar ng Bayan’s triumphs, the university is very open to non-students of the university to also take joy in posing for their “instagrammable” photos.

SO WHEN’S THE BEST TIME TO APPRECIATE THE SUNFLOWERS AND TAKE PHOTOS?
Being able to roam around the university as its student, I would say that the best time when the sun’s light isn’t so harsh [AND AT THE SAME TIME PERFECT FOR SUN KISSED LIGHT) would be early in the morning (at around 6:45AM-8AM) and late in the afternoon (at around 4:30PM-6PM).
The University Avenue is open EVERYDAY unless announced by the university system otherwise (which rarely, if it ever does, happens).
ANOTHER THING TO REMEMBER:
The university's sunflowers, of course, wouldn't last all year long. Visit the university as soon as you ca, while they are still very much blooming in grace. If not, you'll have to wait 'til next graduation season again. 🌞
